About Laurie
I live in Anthem Highlands where we are raising our family, and I am happy to call Broomfield home! We live a busy, but rewarding life, with kids now spanning in age from middle school to college. I enjoy volunteering and engaging with our community and will continue to work diligently for all of our resident to ensure protection of health and safety and a thriving community.
A little about me... I grew up in Blaine, MN and attended the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology, where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1995. I started my career designing medical and industrial devices at Plexus Corporation. My career has led me down an interesting path where my technical background meshed with policy work as I became more focused on environmental policy making.
While raising our five children, I have had the opportunity to see the world through many sets of eyes which provides a unique perspective. Over the years, I invested much of my spare time volunteering at school and community events, as they participated in everything from Boy Scouts, Gems, and Cadets to dance, track & field, and martial arts, and the fine arts including every form of dance to orchestra and band. I have been rewarded with the joy of raising children and I have also seen the challenges firsthand that many families face.
Since being elected to Broomfield City Council in November 2019, I have worked hard to represent my constituents in Ward 4, but really all of Broomfield since our decisions often impact our whole community. I learned early on how important it is for the government to represent the people, and advocating for our community and other communities has taught me to approach everything as a problem that can be solved.
I've been working hard and will continue to work hard for Broomfield. My passion for our community has always shown in the quality of my work, and I will continue with this same level of diligence going forward.
